FDR American Badass (Nanoviews)

A Nanoview is a short movie review that’s less character based and has less spoilers. Movies covered will USUALLY be ones I bought as possible full reviews but decided against.

  1. Excellent review. I can definitely see what you mean about the missed opportunities and the going-one-step-too-goofy issues of the film. Combine that with the tiny budget, and it kind of comes across much like a “special episode” of a TV sitcom or a long bit from a sketch comedy show (I’m thinking early Mad TV).

  2. Was… was that Tony Todd playing werewolf Mussolini?

  3. Hitler in this is played by Jesse Merlin, who was FANTASTIC as Dr Hill in Re-Animator The Musical. Which, if it comes back to Edinburgh or New York, you have to see. You just…have to. He’s also in SILENCE! The Silence Of The Lambs musical too…

  4. SnObama? Count me the fuck in.

  5. Really late to the party, but I just caught this on YouTube.

My guess is the makers didn’t want to play with Eleanor Roosevelt as a lesbian/bisexual because audiences in the US would have a harder with that than most anything else.

I think that the reason that they didn’t run with Eleanor Roosevelt lesbian/bisexual theory is that here in the US, a lot of people still get pissy about homosexuality. It may have been a deliberate choice to not alienate some of their audience.
