Backseat Critique- Godzilla 2014

Hagan and The Avatar of Decent Humour forgo the car and sit instead on a sofa to talk about the new Godzilla.

  1. Okay, quite honestly, you look like your day had really been absolutely horrible. I hope that today’s a little better in some ways.

Beyond that, again, nice to see Nicola (is it okay to use that name, by the way? I mean, it was in vlogs and such before) more in these. I feel that she really does contribute a fresh perspective and is entertaining to listen to.

  2. The statue of Liberty shown in the teaser trailers is the replica one found in Los Vegas, Nevada. I’m guessing it was used to catch people’s attention based on it’s recognizability but then removed from the actual theatrical release so as not to confuse people who do not know that Los Vegas has a replica statue.

I haven’t seen this film yet but I can’t wait to go. 🙂

  3. With mammels it’s rather rare that females are bigger than males. Either the male is bigger or they are both the same size. So humans aren’t very special in that way.

When it comes to other animals it really varies. With insects and arachnites the female is usually a lot bigger, that’s true.

Also let me tell you as a very not-american german, Breaking Bad is fucking amazing.
I haven’t seen that much attention to detail and love poured into a TV show ever before or after.
For example: For the german speaking parts they got actual native speakers and for americans who were supposed to have regular contact in a buissiness environment they trained the actors really really well to the point where their german was nearly flawless. Clearly still with an accent, but you could buy that these people were americans who had learned to speak german and not just people trying to sound out the words.

It was so nice not having to cringe and barely understand anything every time somebody spoke german, like I have to in most other american shows, even the ones I love.

The best thing: Those weren’t even big parts. They put that much detail in there for a very tiny audience who could even tell the difference between german and gibberish and it wasn’t even integral to the show.

You can imagine how much detail they pour into the stuff that actually really matters.
John De Lancie even recently remarked on the Nerdist Podcast how slowly they were shooting that show and how many takes they would do. More than on some movies.

    So… I’d recommend Breaking Bad. ;D

Also good review of the Godzilla movie. It does sound interesting. Seems like this would be worth seeing in the cinema.
